3 killed in Afghan suicide bombing
A suicide car bomber exploded by the side of a Turkish embassy vehicle in front of the Iranian Embassy in Kabul on Thursday, and three people were killed, including the attacker, authorities said.
"The blast happened around 08:10 this morning. A Toyota Corolla approached the Turkish vehicle and detonated the bomb on the car. The blast killed two persons. One is a Turkish inside the vehicle, and the other is a civilian passer-by. The attacker also died on site," said Abdul Rahman Rahimi, police chief of Kabul.
The Turkish vehicle caught fire, and the explosion also destroyed three other nearby vehicles.
Government troops cordoned off the area shortly after the blast, keeping people from gathering at the scene for fears that there might be a second blast.
The Taliban has claimed responsibility for this attack. Kabul police said they will carry out further investigation.
