USA, China vow to strengthen exchanges, cooperation

The United States and China are to carefully implement common consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and strengthen exchanges and cooperation at various levels.

The remarks were made by Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi while he meeting with U.S. National Security Adviser Susan Rice in the New York City on Wednesday.

Yang said the two sides should respect each other's core interests and major concerns and strengthen communications and coordination on major international, regional and global issues so as to properly handle difference and sensitive issues.

Rice said the United States is willing to face regional and global challenges while enhancing exchanges and cooperation with China and to maintain the good development momentum of China-U.S. relations.

Yang said that China is committed to realizing denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and peacefully resolving relevant issues through dialogue and consultation. He said all parties concerned should exercise restraint to safeguard peace and stability of the Peninsula.

Yang also reiterated China's principles and positions on the Iranian nuclear issue. He said China is willing to play a constructive role in pushing forward the nuclear talks.

The two sides also exchanged views on the 70th anniversary of the United Nations, climate change, anti-terrorism and the fight against Ebola.
